Overview

The smbXML Wizard is a conversion tool that allows you to convert text files to smbXML.  This smbXML file can then be imported through the NetSuite user interface.  The tool will also generate smbXML Query files, then convert the query response files to text files.

If you have ever struggled getting information into or out of NetSuite, this is the tool for you.

Features

The smbXML Wizard supports importing data into NetSuite:

Create a reusable template for each type of transaction, list, or item type to be imported.

• The user selects a transaction, list or item type for the template.
• The user defines the input data file fields.
• The user selects from all applicable NetSuite fields for input.  The wizard insures that all requred fields are included, and that all of the smbXML rules are followed.
• The user maps either input file fields or literal strings to the selected NetSuite fields.

Create smbXML import files from csv and fixed-length record text files using the previously created template.

• During smbXML import file creation, the Wizard validates the input data against NetSuite's required datatype.  This allows you to catch and correct any input data errors BEFORE importing the incorrect data into NatSuite. 
• Any errors are written to a separate error file.

Create a Results text file from the Response file return from the NetSuite user interface.

• The Wizard accepts the response file generated by NetSuite and creates a Results text file.  This file indicates, by input line, either successful import of the specified line, or the NetSuite error returned in the response file.

The smbXML Wizard also supports extracting data from NetSuite:

Create an smbXML Query file to be submitted to the NetSuite user interface.

• The user selects a transaction, list or item type for the query.
• The user can add multiple constraints to the query.  Constraints are used to limit the data returned from the query.

Create a csv file from the reponse file returned by the NetSuite user interface as a result of submitting the generated smbXML Query file.

• The wizard will accept an smbXML Query Response file and generate a csv file containing the results of the query. The csv file will contain a field for each unique data element returned in the response file.
• The wizard also allows you to create a Query Output Template that defines what fields to output and in what order. You can even include literal fields in your output files.

Supported Types

Network:

• You must have an internet connection to use the smbXML Wizard.

The smbXML Wizard requires the installation of the Microsoft .Net Framework v1.1.  If your system does not have this software installed, you will be prompted to install it during the smbXML Wizard installation.
